8oz to 6oz conversion FAQ

FAQ-Header-8oz-to-6oz

Why is EVOL doing this & what does this mean to me?

We have heard everything from, “Your burritos are too big” to “Your burritos are too expensive”. We listened and responded by cutting two ounces out of most of your favorite classic burritos. The results are nutritionally fantastic: We have cut sodium in our new 6oz burritos by a minimum of 40% and reduced calories by a minimum of 21% – that’s a game changer! In addition, we cut out an equivalent amount of cost which we hope is passed along to our awesome fans. The bottom line is you will be saving on cash and calories as soon as you see the new packaging.

What will the nutritionals look like? Are you making the product healthier? Is there less sodium?

We are always trying to bring a healthy, delicious product to our consumer. We have cut sodium in our new 6oz burritos by a minimum of 40% – that’s a game changer! We were able to do this by reducing the sodium content in the tortilla, as well as changing the filling to tortilla ratio. Also, we have reduced the calories in each burrito by a minimum of 21%. As consumers shift to a more healthy lifestyle, we wanted to be sure to offer a product that perfectly meets their needs.

How much will the new 6oz classic burritos cost?

You should be able to find the EVOL classic 6oz burritos for $2.49. Every retailer sets their own price but we make suggestions. You will likely see these burritos ranging from $2.49 up to $2.99. Get excited.

Why are the classic burritos cheaper? Is your ingredient integrity decreasing?

We wanted to create a product with improved nutritionals. We reduced the size and have cut sodium in our new 6oz burritos by a minimum of 40% and reduced calories by a minimum of 21% – that’s a game changer! The recipes and ingredients we use remain the same. Rest assured the savings are not coming from sacrificing our integrity or a lack of commitment to sustainable, responsible sourcing of ingredients. Get this, the reduction of tortilla size actually increased the filling to tortilla ratio. This means more cheesy, meaty, beany goodness in every bite – less tortilla, sodium and carbs!

Are the ingredients the same?

Yes, the recipes and ingredients we use remain the same. As we grow we are able to open up direct relationships with our suppliers, which means no middle man! In turn we can source a higher quality ingredient for less than we could before. Furthermore EVOL is making a push to be more organic than ever before. In 2012 EVOL sourced 7% of our ingredients organically. Our goal for 2013 is that 25% of all ingredients are organic.

Hey! Why is the package different?

Big things are going on in our EVOL world! In 2013 we will be launching 20 new products ranging from new burritos to mac & cheese. In an effort to make each product line stand out on its own, the classics got a makeover. You will notice the bold, solid colors on all of our classic burritos (including breakfast). This will help you (the consumer) quickly identify which line of burritos you are after and further set us apart from the bland packaging that dominates the freezer. Also, we thought it looked sweet!

Are the recipes the same?

All of the recipes remain the same. Rest assured the savings are not coming from sacrificing our integrity or a lack of commitment to sustainable, responsible sourcing of ingredients. You may notice less sodium and no more palm oil if you are a very astute consumer. We had our tortilla resized and the palm oil removed to help further our commitment to the environment. Furthermore EVOL is making a push to be more organic than ever before. In 2012 EVOL sourced 7% of our ingredients organically; our goal for 2013 is that 25% of all ingredients are organic.

Hey! Where is my favorite burrito?!

This year (insert burrito here) had to go to the EVOL graveyard. As we continue to grow our product portfolio we have to take a look back and see what is working. On the flip side, we also have to realize what is not working and make changes accordingly. Unfortunately, a few burritos did not live up to the standard of their peers. We are sad to see them go as well, they were some of our favorites! The good news is we have loads of great, new burritos for you to try.

When will these be available in my area?

Hopefully ASAP! The last of the 8oz classic burritos should filter their way out of the system by the end of March 2013. Many of our retailers will be offering deals on the existing 8oz product so if you haven’t seen the new ones yet, you should be able to stock up for cheap.

What about Cilantro Lime Chicken? Isn’t that already a 6oz product?

Why, yes! It is! Like our other classic burritos, the Cilantro Lime Chicken Burrito will get a facelift (new packaging) and incur a price reduction. The burrito remains organic and the recipe has not changed at all.
